Thalandor Doomstar...................250 pts +150 for Gwandor = 400 pts In the times of old, during the war of the beard, it was tradition that the greatest High Elf heroes were excellent warriors, archers and mages. In recent times, no warriors are as powerful as the great Elf and Dwarf heroes of old, and it was realized that the specialized heroes were far more useful. Some however still do aspire to be great Warriors and mages, Thalandor's ancestors are some examples. Like the rest of his family, Thalandor has learnt the skills of combat and magic. With the aid of his Riding-Eagle, Gwandor, Thalandor is one of the first people to find out when the realm of Athel Loren is under attack and is greatly feared by the goblins with his terrifying (and some say suicudal) dives into their ranks.
** Notice the change of fluff. Last edition warrior mages were common and Thalandor was one of them. In 6th edition, there are nearly no warrior-mages, but his fluff still seemed to fit both. Here is my excuse for leaving him as one **
Thalandor counts as a Lord choice and may be included in any Wood Elf army of 2000 points or more. He rides Gwandor the Great Eagle and must be used exactly as shown here. He may not be given any additional equipment and may be your army general.

Equipment: Hand Weapon, Longbow, Magic War Paint, Spear of Daieth
Wizard: Thalandor i one of the few remaining warrior-mages. He is a level 2 Wizard and may choose his spells from the life or beasts lores.
Treesinging: Thalandor, like all Wood Elf mages, has the treesinging ability. See the Annual 2003 Wood Elf list for more information.
Magic War Paint: Gives Thalandor a 5+ ward save and Magic Resistance(2)
Spear of Daieth: Said to have eyes of it's own, the Spear of Daieth will weave and bend to intercept enemy attacks and protect it's bearer
Counts as a spear (+1 S on charge). May be used to parry the attacks of 1 model striking at Thalandor/Gwandor each turn. Firstly nominate the model whose attacks you will parry. Then they roll to hit. Roll a D6 for any hits that are caused. On a 1-4, roll to wound and make armour saves as normal. On a 5-6, the blow has been parried, disregard the hit and do not roll to wound.
Gwandor, The Great Eagle:
Can fly: Gwandor is known for his brave (suicidal) dives into the enemy ranks. Like all Great Eagles, Gwandor may fly.
Talisman of Qwarr: Qwarr was thought to be the most powerful Eagle ever. Qwarr was finally killed in a great duel with a Black Dragon which killed them both, but gave the Wood Elves a great victory. For his bravery, Qwarr's remains were kept and placed inside this talisman which hangs around Gwandor's neck. It is said that this gives Gwandor some of the power of this legendary Great Eagle
This gives Gwandor +1S, +1T, +1W, +2I, and +2A. These are shown in Gwandor's statistics in the brackets. Also gives Gwandor a 5+ ward save.
Loyal: Gwandor is very loyal, staying with his master until the end. If Thalandor dies, Gwandor is assumed to automatically fail his monster reaction test. Roll on the Monster Reaction Table and apply the results, modified as below.
PLEASE NOTE : STILL APPLY ORIGINAL RESULT ON MONSTER REACTION TABLE!!!!!
On a 1-2 on Reaction table: Gwandor runs to the nearest table edge as fast as possible, with his wounded master still on his back. If he successfully escapes, your opponent gets no Victory Points for Thalandor's death or Gwandor leaving the table. On a 3-4: Place a counter in contact with Gwandor's base at the place where Thalandor fell. If Gwandor survives the battle and no unengaged enemies come in contact with the counter, your opponent gets no VPs for Gwandor or Thalandor. Otherwise they get full VPs for them both. On a 4-5: If Gwandor survives the battle, your opponent gains no VPs for Gwandor or Thalandor.
